The Red Cross is a symbol of hope throughout the world. As part of this humanitarian organization, the American Red Cross of the Tri-States provides relief to victims of single family emergencies and community, national and international disasters. Its mission is to help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
Your contributions help the chapter to provide food, clothing, shelter and counseling for victims each year. Disaster responders work around the clock every day of the week helping those victims in their hour of need.
The American Red Cross of the Tri-States also offers opportunities for members of the community to learn First Aid, CPR and other health and safety skills that will keep them safe in times of emergencies. It provides emergency communications for military families trying to reach their loved ones and offers assistance to those trying to locate family members at the time of international disasters.
Your support is greatly appreciated.

In-Kind Gifts
The Red Cross is unable to accept small, individual donations or collections of items such as clothing, food or cleaning supplies. The cost to sort, package and distribute these types of donations to disaster victims is almost always greater than the cost of purchasing the items locally, and it is logistically impossible to distribute a wide variety of individual items in a meaningful way. Due to these costs and logistical concerns, we recommend that you support your community by donating these items to an organization that is equipped to put them to the best possible local use.
Offers of sizeable, bulk donations are only accepted if they meet a current need for disaster victims that can be addressed by the Red Cross. Bulk donations are typically new, shrink-wrapped and palletized items, and they are transported by the donor. If you would like to discuss this type of donation, please contact Michelle Kennicott at (563) 583-6451 ext. 306.
Thank you for your interest in helping the Red Cross help those in need.

Planned Giving
Whether supported through an outright or planned gift, all Red Cross programs are made possible through the generosity and commitment of people like you. A planned gift to the Red Cross helps ensure the future of the services and programs we provide in the Tri-States area and worldwide and further your financial goals.
What are planned gifts…Planned Gifts include gifts through your will, charitable gift annuities, gifts of life insurance, pooled income funds, and charitable trusts.
Bequest
Many of our supporters make charitable gifts by naming the Red Cross as a beneficiary in their will. To make a bequest to the American Red Cross of the Tri-States the following language will help your lawyer:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to the American Red Cross for the benefit of the Tri-States Chapter (the sum of $_______), or (______percent or fraction of my estate).
A gift that benefits the American Red Cross nationally should specify: The American National Red Cross.
Gift of Life Insurance
A supporter may name the American Red Cross of the Tri-States as a beneficiary, co-beneficiary, or contingent beneficiary of an existing policy. A supporter may give a paid-up policy to the American Red Cross of the Tri-States, or purchase a policy and irrevocably name the American Red Cross of the Tri-States as owner and beneficiary.
Gift of Real Estate
A donor may make an outright gift of a personal residence, ranch or farm to the American Red Cross, or may reserve the right to live in the house or continue to farm the property for as long as the donor and/or named beneficiary lives.
Charitable Lead Trust
Individuals with very large estates can use a charitable lead trust to benefit the American Red Cross and pass principal to family members.
Charitable Gift Annuity
In exchange for your gift of cash or marketable securities to the American Red Cross, we pay you (and a survivor or other beneficiary, if desired) a fixed amount annually for life.
Charitable Remainder Trust
A donor may create a life-income trust, which provides the donor (and another beneficiary, if you wish) with either fixed income through a Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust or a variable income through a Charitable Remainder Unitrust.
